Ron Jenkins is professor of biology at Samford University in Birmingham, AL. He joined Samford University in 1987 and has served as departmental chair since 1994. While at Samford he has developed an expertise in several disciplines including environmental ethics, environmental issues associated with industry, and biodiversity. He routinely teaches a course in environmental ethics in the Environmental Management program at Samford University. Currently, he is co-authoring a field guide to the spiders of North America and has published several scientific articles on environmental endocrine disruptors, ecology of spiders, ethnobotany, and innovations in the teaching of field biology.
He received his BS from Carson-Newman College in Jefferson City, TN. In 1976 and 1980, respectively, he received an MS and PhD from Auburn University with an emphasis in zoology. His interest in ethics stems from his interests in philosophy and the sciences. He frequently offers talks to community and church groups.
