Learning Units (Hours)
John Schoolfield, PE
This 8-hour course provides a basic understanding and guidelines for managing contaminated soil removal operations, such as those due to historical practices at industrial facilities or military bases. This course is applicable to sites whether regulated under CERCLA, RCRA, or under State jurisdictions. Methods and lessons learned for conducting these operations are provided, from the basic approach for setting up the effort, to implementing proven techniques for reducing costs and avoiding pitfalls common to these operations. Proper management of these projects is often underestimated because of the perceived simplicity of excavation operations in general. If you are a manager of a facility where removal operations are planned, or a cleanup contractor, chances are that you dont know what you dont know" about these efforts, and this course will certainly pay for itself many times over.
This course includes a multiple-choice quiz at the end, which is designed to enhance the understanding of the course materials.
